Media Wildlife Talk Series: Towards a partnership framework on UGGps Knowledge Products with the Media sector in the Arab region.

On September 5, 2023, journalists and representatives from Algeria, Kuwait, State of Palestine, Oman, Sudan and Syria came together in virtual mode to discuss the preliminary steps for setting up a partnership framework to popularize the UNESCO Man and Biosphere (MAB) Programme and UNESCO Global Geopark Programme (UGGP) in the Arab region. 

Dr. Elsa Sattout, Regional Programme Specialist of the Ecology & Earth Science Programme at UNESCO Cairo, welcomed the participants and transferred the Greetings of Dr. Nuria Sanz, Officer in Charge of the UNESCO Cairo Office in Egypt. The results of the perception poll addressed to Journalists and Representatives from Algeria, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, State of Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, and Tunisia were discussed. The journalists represented various institutions and agencies, namely the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge, Ministry of Agriculture, National Council for Cultural, Art & Letters; Environmental Quality Authority; Sultan Qaboos University, Palestine Polytechnic University, Qatar University, University of Damascus; Albawabnews, Alnasr newspaper, Egyptian Radio and Television Unit, Al Thaer and Ghadi News, Radio Egypt, SANA news, Syrian Times Newspaper, Agence Tunis Afrique Presse,  AlThawrat Newspaper, and Teshreen News.

The Geological Heritage in the Arab region was presented in detail.  This WildLife Talks hosted a dialogue to set the general framework for producing Knowledge Products (KPs) on UGGps in the Arab region. These KPs will be co-designed and co-developed with and for the Media Sector in the Arab region.
